Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Tuesday that the U.S. will deploy tanks, armored vehicles and other military equipment across seven European nations. In response to NATO allies facing an array of threats from Russia and terrorist groups. Russia will be annoyed with this move, but it will have little effect on their upcoming efforts to gain territory and a further foot hold in Eastern Europe. This fact I believe will have little effect on further aggression against the Ukraine even though the USA, UK, Russia, France and China gave assurances this would not be allowed.
I have no doubt that some time around the end of August or early September 2015, the Russians will expand their aggression of expansion across Europe. Initially to push farther into Eastern Ukraine to capture freshly harvested grain and food stocks to sustain a winter campaign. The critical issue surrounding this campaign will be the incidental spill over into NATO countries. I say incidental and not accidental because it will be a measured tests of the resolve of the Obama administration and NATO and tolerance of how far Russia can push, intimidate and/or incite fear upon NATO and it’s members. You can expect this mostly to include Estonia, Latvia, Poland and non-member states such as Belarus and Moldova. Insurrection of these countries incited by Moscow will no doubt be the manner Putin uses as he has done in Ukraine. Russia will tear away at the small NATO members within it’s reach with calculated measures. After all, if Estonia or Latvia have a dividing issue like Ukraine, fueled by the Russians, will they remain in NATO?
“The Big Red Line”. All we need now is for Obama to invoke the red line in a hasty manner as he has done before without resolve. Obama is a bully, not a pillar of strength or a leader. He makes rash statements, in most cases inflammatory ones, before the absolute solid facts are revealed in foreign and domestic instances. In a cat and mouse game, Putin will shred him at the opportune time and expose Obama as the weak leader he is. Do you really think some howitzers and a few hundred Abrams tanks/Bradley fighting vehicles is going to make a difference if Obama flinches? Russia for the last 6 years has been dramatically expanding it’s military capabilities and technologies while the USA has been drawing down to a much smaller force and presence in the world. If the current situation continues with the military demoralization and demolition in this country, we are just asking for a greater military presence to fill the vacuum. Hence comes China and Russia. If Russia steps over Obama’s “Big Red Line”, we are little prepared to react on a global scale, which would give Putin free reign to push around Europe, much like Hitler did. A few well placed nukes high above the atmosphere causing EMP’s (Electromagnetic Pulse) might be enough to take us out of the end-game in Europe for the next decade. Hence the reason Russia has been flying it’s bombers close to our borders and other Allied Nations.
One thing I think we can all agree on is the Obama administration is getting extremely worried about Russian aggression in Europe and is playing a bluffing game it is does not have the will to win.
